The Minister of Communications General (Ret) Siphiwe Nyanda believes his Director General (DG), Mamodupi Mohlala, has now crossed the line if the allegations contained in today's Sunday Independent are correct.
The Ministry rejects the baseless and fabrigated allegations that the DG's contract was termininated because she laid criminal charges about tenders with Auditor General and the South African Police Service (SAPS).
"This attitude can't continue unchallenged" says Minister Gen (Ret) Siphiwe Nyanda. The termination of contract of the DG had nothing to do with contracts but all to do with her conduct, processes and systems. The Ministry will verify the basis of these allegations and where possible, the Ministry will take firm action against those who continue to disregard rules and regulations that governs the department.
We want to put on record that the department has never being approached by the SAPS nor the Auditor General's office on the allegations as claimed by a so called letter send to the SAPS and the Auditor General . Until we are approached by the SAPS the Ministry reaffirms its willingness to avail our staff members if they are needed by the law enforcement agencies.
