Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has wished the newly appointed Director-General of the Department of Transport, Mr. Mangisi George Mahlalela, well and has urged all stakeholders in the Transport family to work together with him.

The Cabinet of the Republic of South Africa announced the appointment of Mr. Mahlalela as the Director-General of the Department of Transport at its meeting on 24 February 2010.

"We wish Mr. Mahlalela well in his position as Director-General of the Department of Transport. We are confident that with his experience and expertise, the Department of Transport will grow from strength to strength and that he will serve the entire Transport sector well. We urge all stakeholders in the Transport family to support and work together with Mr. Mahlalela," said the Minister.

Mr. Mahlalela is no stranger to transport, having served as acting Director-General of the national Department of Transport since September 2009. From June to September 2009, he was Deputy Director-General: Public Transport. Since 1995, he served in various capacities in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, including Chief Director and Director: Public Transport at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport.
