The Translux bus driver photographed by a member of the public while allegedly overtaking illegally across a solid line has resigned from his position.

MEC for Transport and Public Works, Robin Carlisle, was informed by Translux of the driver’s resignation.

“We are appreciative of the communication that we have received from Translux. The bus company has shown responsibility in its handling of the matter and have indicated their continued commitment to dealing with issues of road and passenger safety,” said Carlisle.

The driver had been suspended by the bus company following the incident.

“It is important that consequences are imposed when people drive irresponsibly on the roads. Increasingly, their irresponsible behaviour is being recorded and we continue to commend and encourage members of the public to be forthcoming with this information. This will go a long way in ensuring that the appropriate consequences are applied to these drivers,” added Carlisle.
