The Honourable Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will deliver the Inaugural address at the ICT Indaba Summit 2012 on 5 June 21012 at 14h00 at the Cape Town ICC.
The event is hosted by the Department of Communications from 4 to 7 June and is endorsed by the Geneva-based International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The ITU which has more than 193 member states and 700 sector members remain the UN leading Agency in ICT issues for Governments and private sector.
Sessions are led by various speakers from the continent with various themes including:
The ICT and Global Warming
Building a knowledge based economy for job creation
Using Africa’s infrastructure Development corridor as a basis for integrated ICT initiatives.
African ICT Ministers are expected to have sessions which will look at strategic interventions to drive the ICT agenda and the dynamic innovations taking place across Africa.
The South African government is committed to ensuring that the ICT sector plays its role as primary enablers of economic growth and job creation not only in South Africa but throughout the continent.
