President Jacob Zuma has congratulated Former President Nelson Mandela on casting his vote at his home in Houghton today for the local government elections.

President Zuma has called on all South Africans to follow in President Mandela’s footsteps and use their democratic right to vote on the 18th of May.

“The first President of the free and democratic South Africa has led by example, we must now learn from him as we always do and go out in our millions to vote. We have been assured by the IEC and relevant government departments that all systems are in place, and stations will be ready for every registered citizen on Wednesday’’, said President Zuma.

President Zuma will cast his vote on the 18th of May at Ntolwane Primary School in Nkandla, KwaZulu Natal, at 9am.
