The Minister of Sport and Recreation SA, Hon. Fikile Mbalula, praised the first gold medal for South Africa at the London 2012 by the golden boy and swimming sensation, Cameron van der Burgh.Van der Burgh brought smiles and happiness to the South African hearts. Not only did Cameron win the gold, he also set the new World Record in Men's 100m breaststroke.

"We knew and believed when Team SA took off at ORTIA that we will create waves and move mountains in London. We are now counted amongst the best in the world" said Minister Mbalula, who spoke to Cameron earlier about today's golden moment prospects.

"Cameron told me that what happened to Banyana in Coventry should not damper the country's spirit, as the South African flag will be raised high when he accepts the gold medal. Indeed, today I was touched when he broke the world record" continued Mbalula.

Minister Mbalula still believes the best is yet to come out of the London.he further wished all the Team SA members to join in the queue and follow Cameron van den Burgh to the podium in their respective competing codes.
