Minister in The Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane today visited the family of the late Councillor Pauline Masutlhe from Wonderkop in Marikana. Minister Chabane visited the family on behalf of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Marikana tragedy.
The Minister visited the family to offer government support and express a message of condolence and sympathies on behalf of government and the people of South Africa. He was met by a family representative, Ms Matlaleng Masutlhe who is the elder sister of the deceased.
“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the passing on of Councillor Masutlhe, whom we have worked very well with during this period. She showed dedication and discipline in discharging her responsibilities. The government and the people of our country have lost a great community leader and our hearts are with your family” said Minister Chabane in his message to the family.
The Masutlhe family expressed its appreciation for the visit and government support during this difficult time of grief and sadness.
The Minister met with the family during their visit to the Phokeng Mortuary in Rusternburg this morning. Minister was accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Madibeng District Municipality, Mr Louis Diremelo.
Councillor Masutlhe passed away on Wednesday, 19 September in hospital in Rusternburg.
