The transformer (mini-sub) serving the central business area of Sannieshof has burned out last night says local DA Councillor of Tswaing Carín Visser.
The transformer providing power since 1994/95 has never been serviced and or replaced The DA has on several occasion complaints to the Tswaing Municipality that the fluctuation of electricity supply causes damage to electrical equipment which is bad for businesses.
Despite promises in 2010 by the former MEC Gordin Kegakilwe to our community to solve this problem nothing has happen since.
According to DA Councillor, Carín Visser the repairs could take 6 to 8 weeks. “It is so unfortunate because businesses such as the Sannieshof Butcher, OK and several shops including ABSA Bank and Doctor's practices and numerous other business will be affected she added.
The DA is in possession of several documents in which the Tswaing Municipality since 2007 is aware of the poor maintenance of electrical infrastructure, inadequate supply of equipment and spare parts says Visser. Why must the community always be at the short end?
The DA last week has launched its Provincial Plan on jobs and growth in the province. When in government we will increase our infrastructure investment by building and maintaining our economy that depends on roads, pipeline hospitals and schools says Visser in a statement today.
