Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) is deeply saddened by the violence and loss of life at Lonmin Plc’s Marikana mine complex over recent days. We mourn with the families of those who have lost loved ones, both police and mine workers.
What happened at Marikana is a tragedy, and we endorse the calls for a proper enquiry so that something like this never happens again. The nation, including business, government and labour must also come together to consider how we collectively uphold our responsibilities to ensure the rights of citizens to a secure working environment.
