Speaker of National Assembly (NA), Ms Baleka Mbete MP is scheduled to meet the Speaker of Saudi Consultative Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh and his delegation today (12 October 2016)
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen and deepen cooperation between the National Assembly and the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia. This is the first official visit by the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations at Parliamentary level. The visit is also aimed at identifying specific areas of interest between the two Parliaments. It will further contribute to sound Parliamentary governance in the broader context of oversight and accountability.
Ms Mbete will meet Dr Al-Sheik at 09:25am today (12 October 2016), accompanied by NA Deputy Speaker, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli, NA House Chairperson for International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Mmatlala Boroto and the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations, Mr Amos Masango. The South African delegation will be supported by the Secretary to Parliament, Mr Gengezi Mgidlana, the members of the Management Team and other senior officials.
Dr Al-Sheikh will also pay a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Thandi Modise MP at 10:35am.
THERE WILL BE THE FOLLOWING PHOTO AND FILMING OPPORTUNITIES:
- Arrival of Dr Al-Sheikh and his delegation at 09:25am and is received by the Speaker of the National Assembly Ms Baleka Mbete.
- Photo opportunity on the stairs of the National Assembly building.
- Photo opportunity at the start of the bilateral meeting and signing of the distinguished guest book in the foyer of the National Assembly.
- Courtesy call on the Chairperson of NCOP, Ms Modise at 10:35am at Chairperson of the NCOP’s Boardroom (NCOP Building). Photo opportunity during the exchange of gifts.
