Title: SA: Mnyande: Address by the SARB chief economist at the annual FPI convention on SARB's expanded mandate, Johannesburg

Master of ceremony and participants in this convention

I would like to thank the organisers for this opportunity and for inviting me.
It is a great honour for me to share some of my views and those of my colleagues at the South African Reserve Bank (the SARB) on the evolving ideas about the role and responsibilities of the Bank with regard to financial stability, congruent to the more traditional emphasis on price stability. These views will be followed by a brief overview of risks to the outlook, which will also serve as a conclusion.
