The Director-General in the Foreign Affairs Department Ayanda Ntsaluba yesterday released the names of the new ambassadors and a high commissioner to serve the country abroad.

According to departmental spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa the appointments were approved by President Thabo Mbeki.

“The President makes such appointments after consultations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma,” he said.

Super Moloi will be posted in Algeria, Simon Makana in Vietnam, Abba Omar in Oman and Barbara Masekela in the US, as previously announced.

Anthony Mongalo will be the High Commissioner to Australia, Lenin Shope will be Ambassador to Italy while Thenjiwe Mtintso will be based in Cuba.

“The Director-General extends his sincere congratulations to all those appointed and expresses his confidence that they will serve the country to the best of their abilities as part of national efforts to assist in turning the tide to create a better Africa in a better world,” said Mamoepa.

He explained that the appointees would all assume duties at different times, adding that Masekela had already been posted to the US. –BuaNews.
