The City of Joburg’s Rea Vaya BRT will be operating a service to transport soccer fans for the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates this Saturday, 11 November 2023, at the First National Bank (FNB) Stadium.

It will be quicker and convenient to get to FNB Stadium from the inner-city and Soweto using the Rea Vaya BRT as buses will travel at 5 minutes from Soweto and the Joburg CBD to the FNB stadium between 12h00 and the soccer match’s kick off time.

Rea Vaya buses will operate from the Joburg CBD, Cresta, Auckland Park, Westbury, Bosmont, New Canada, Florida North, Parktown, Yeoville, Eldorado

Park and some major residential areas in Soweto to transport soccer fans to and from the FNB Stadium.

The Rea Vaya Soccer City (FNB Stadium) will be open from 10:00.

The T1 and C1 service will run at a frequency of 15 minutes in the morning and the T1 service will step up the service to a 5 minutes frequency from 12:00 to 15:30. T3 will operate at 15 minutes frequency throughout the day.

Fans using the T3 buses from the Joburg CBD and Braamfotein will connect T1 & C1 at the Rea Vaya Orlando Stadium Station to FNB stadium without paying extra cost for the trip.

After the match, all services leaving from FNB Stadium will operate at 6 minutes frequency to transport soccer fans to their destination points.

The Soweto derby service will end at 19:00.

All feeder buses will operate to support trunk and complimentary routes.

Soccer fans can either use Smartcards or buy single or double trip cards obtainable from all Rea Vaya stations. The cost of a smartcard is R35.00. Single trip card cost R30.00.

No smartcards and trip cards will be sold at Soccer City s Rea Vaya ticket office before and after the match. There will be no loading of smartcards at the station.

Smartcard holders will pay fares based on distance travelled to the FNB stadium. In addition they will also pay 10% discount of the total fare charged for the trip.

Passengers are advised to buy return cards [2X single trip cards] at all Rea Vaya stations.

No alcohol beverages will be allowed in the Rea Vaya system.
