It is with pleasure that I announce the appointment of Ravesh Komal as the Road Accident Fund’s (RAF) new Chief Information Officer (CIO), with effect from 01 October, 2017.
Komal is a seasoned information technology (IT) professional with 29 years of experience spanning out into petro-chemical, FMCG, banking, pharmaceutical, supply chain and production. Throughout his career he has guided large-scale innovative and value creation initiatives locally and globally.
These initiatives resulted in significant changes to operating processes which helped improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the business, including re-invention in some cases. He has also received various accolades for leadership excellence in various projects he has worked on.
Prior to joining the RAF, he was the head of IT at Aspen Pharmacare. Other positions he has held are that of IT Process Manager-Branch Banking at First National Bank, Senior Business Analyst at Unilever South Africa, and Analyst Programmer (Systems Analyst) at Blendcor (Pty) Ltd, a co-owned Shell & BP lubricants blending and grease manufacturing company.
A member of the Institute of IT Professionals South Africa, Komal holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Bachelor of Technology Degree in Management, and Diploma in Information Technology.
Komal will be a vital strategic asset as the RAF transitions to the Road Accident Benefit Scheme. We are confident that with his deep understanding of IT he will move the Fund to the next level to ensure a seamless client experience for our claimants.
The RAF congratulates him on his appointment and wishes him well as he assumes his responsibilities.
