Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa said he was delighted by the Johannesburg High Court's ruling against an application by the Jukskei Crocodile Catchment Area (JCCA) Forum to block a proposed low-cost settlement project known as Cosmo City.

The Johannesburg High Court yesterday dismissed JCCA's application to oppose the development of the Cosmo City project with costs.

Shilowa said, “The court has removed a major stumbling block in the development of Cosmo City. This is victory for the people of Zevenfontein and Zandspruit who have waited for so long for Cosmo City to get off the ground. It is victory for social development”.

“We hope that all the other outstanding matters still delaying the Cosmo City development will also be removed so that we can move with speed to provide housing for our people and build sustainable communities”.

Shilowa and Housing MEC Paul Mashatile will visit Zevenfontein today to personally deliver the good news to the community.
