"If the poll is right, then Europeans are wrong," Peres, a former prime minister, said after meeting Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou.
"Undoubtedly there are elements of anti-Semitism in this poll because to say that Israel is more dangerous than, for example Iran, North Korea or Libya is a little bit not serious," he added.
"It's wrong to build a new Europe on old feelings," Peres said.
Peres is on a three-day visit to Greece to attend a memorial service Sunday in Salonika, commemorating the near-total extermination of the once flourishing Jewish community in the northern port city during the Nazi occupation in World War II.
Speaking after Peres, Papandreou admitted Europe was not free of anti-Semitism, but said that the poll also contained criticism of Israel's policy, particularly of its current government led by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. – Sapa-AFP.
