"Whatever practical problems existed have been cleared and party agents will, as per their rights in the electoral law, oversee registration and voting," her office said in a statement.
Sisulu visited all sections of the Westville Prison in Durban where she went to personally inspect the state of readiness for the registration of eligible voters.
She is currently on her way to Pietermaritzburg Prison to conduct a similar inspection.
"Minister Sisulu expressed satisfaction with the state of preparedness put in place by the Independent Electoral Commission and the prison authorities".
It said registration at the Westville Prison was on track and would be completed by tomorrow.
"Minister Sisulu is happy to note that the Department of Home Affairs is giving the necessary assistance to ensure that all eligible voters have the required identity documentation to participate in the forthcoming election.
"Minister Sisulu's visits to the prisons follows concerns raised that party agents were experiencing difficulty accessing prisons during this period," her office said.
A small proportion of prisoners told the minister they did not have the required documentation to prove their identity.
The home affairs department said it was aware of the problem and was currently working on it. – Sapa.
