The Department of Labour’s (DOL) branch that deals with the Inspections and Enforcement Services (IES) led by Deputy Minister Inkosi Phathekile Holomisa will convene a dialogue session with organised business, labour and community in he Western Cape due to the perpetuation of non adherence to employment equity provisions of the Employment Equity Act (EEA).

The IES within the DOL has established that in the Western Cape as well as other provinces the provisions of the EEA are not integrated into business strategies deliberately or due lack of allocation of resources, authority and commitment to the provisions of the EEA.

There is a considerable under representation of women in executive, management and technical positions with all the skills those women posses in our day and age. There is persistent gender pay gap, skewed racial composition of workplaces favouring white male employees. IES has also gathered that there is a lack of development of employees from designated groups through training, succession planning and provision of practical experience.

The Department of Labour has organised the first of the series of these dialogues with social partners in ach province to understand the dynamics involved and further guide and advise these partners on implementation of the EEA provisions as well as consequences of not adhering to them.
Journalists are invited to this dialogue session.

The dialogue in the Western Cape will be held as follows:
Venue:   Stand Towers Hotel, Strand Street, Cape Town
Date:       Thursday 13 October 2016
Time:        07: 30 (am)
