A US soldier and two Iraqi civilians were killed when a homemade bomb exploded in Iraq, the US military said Friday.

The incident took place at 5:15 pm Thursday, the military said in a statement. A spokeswoman, contacted by AFP, was unable to locate the attack.

The military reported earlier Friday that a US marine serving in the volatile western province of Al-Anbar was also killed Thursday in a road accident.

Following the latest casualties, the US military death toll in Iraq climbed to at least 792 since the start of the US-led invasion in March 2003. This figure includes 577 troops killed in action. - Sapa-AFP
