Title: Omar: Airport Company SA's ten-year celebration

MESSAGE FROM ABDULAH MOHAMED OMAR, MINISTER OF TRANSPORT, ON AIRPORT COMPANY SOUTH AFRICA'S TEN-YEARS OF AIRPORT EXCELLENCE CELEBRATION

Airport Company South Africa is celebrating ten years of airport excellence, ten years of successful airport development and management. On behalf of the South African government, ACSA's main shareholder, I congratulate ACSA on its impressive achievements over the past ten years.

Congratulations are extended to the Chairperson, Mr Mashudu Ramano, all members of the Board, our strategic equity partner, Aeroporti Di Roma, our empowerment shareholders, the Managing Director Ms Monhla Hlahla, her management team, all airport managers, the relevant trade unions and all staff members. You have all contributed to ACSA's success.

Not only has ACSA revolutionised the airports under its control. It has also played its part in implementing Government's programme in support of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). Building co-operation on the African continent to promote airport development, safety, security, efficiency and airport management generally remain key elements of the work which lies ahead.

ACSA cannot and has not distanced itself from our key objectives of promoting economic development, advancing black economic empowerment, skills training and job creation. The core challenge remains airport infrastructure development and developing airports which are equal to the best in the world.

I am thrilled that our airports, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban have won top prizes. I am confident that more prizes will follow.

I am proud of ACSA and thank all those who have contributed to its success. May the next ten years bring greater successes, and let all involved including ACSA's workforce benefit from its success.

Give of your best and rewards will follow.

Abdulah M. Omar, MP
Minister of Transport
Republic of South Africa
