Stanley Macebuh, one of Obasanjo's senior special assistants, denied reports that Nigeria had already agreed to welcome the former warlord, who is seen as an obstacle to the Liberian peace process.
"It's not true," he said.
"The matter is still being looked into. There are all kinds of recommendations being made. The president is still looking into it".
Taylor has been fighting a rebel group for four years, but last month west African leaders managed to bring the parties to the negotiating table to agree a shaky ceasefire.
But Taylor, who has been indicted for war crimes in neighbouring Sierra Leone by a UN-mandated court, has refused to accede to rebel and international demands that he step aside, leading to Liberia's peace process being frozen. - Sapa-AFP.
