A team from the South Africa and Australia offices of international legal practice Norton Rose Group has advised Investec Bank Limited on a ZAR1.47 billion financing agreement for Gold One International’s acquisition of Rand Uranium.
Investec Bank Limited was advised by a strong team led by banking and finance director, Jackie Midlane at Norton Rose South Africa who advised on the debt finance for the deal assisted by head of mergers and acquisitions at Norton Rose Australia, Shaun Clyne, on the equity and derivatives agreement.
Jackie Midlane commented: “I am pleased that together with our Australian partners, our international expertise ensured that Investec Bank Limited experienced a seamless cross-border service between South Africa and Australia.”
This is the latest in a number of debt financing transactions of mining projects for the emerging markets, and is another indication of the appetite of leading banks for debt financings in the commodities and mining sectors.
The deal was led by Jackie Midlane, assisted by Cynthia Venter, Sarah Halford, Vuyo Guni, (all South Africa) and Shaun Clyne and Suzie Losanno (Australia).
