Following the African National Congress's (ANC's) election win, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci) said on Tuesday it was eagerly awaiting the new administration's policies.
"The first post-election speeches and interviews indicate welcome support for a new, unified approach to South Africa's challenges," said Sacci CEO Neren Rau in a statement.
"Business views the commitments to put the past behind us and to take a considered and critical view of the weaknesses within government structures and how they may be addressed in the interests of effective service delivery as particularly encouraging," Rau said.
Sacci trusted that adherence to economic policies that had mitigated the impact of the global economic crisis would continue, Rau said.
It also hoped to continue with the established consultative approach to the development and introduction of new policies.
Rau added that Sacci congratulated the ANC on its convincing victory in the elections.
"The electoral outcome could also facilitate a strong role by leading opposition parties in strengthening democratic processes towards balanced outcomes for our democracy," he said.
