NEHAWU members at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital{CHBH} in Johannesburg will be marching against the capture of the hospital by the Economic Freedom Fighters.

In collusion with the management, the EFF has infused introduced corrupt tendencies at the hospital. Our members will therefore be handing over a memorandum demanding the removal of the CEO and some senior managers.

This follows the decision by the management at Chris Hani Bara to accede to the bullying tactics of the EFF, which demanded that they hire their own members and ignore thousands of applicants that were submitted by the people of Soweto and the surrounding areas. The EFF marched to the institution demanding that their members be hired and the management subsequently violated all recruitment processes by giving in to their demands.

As a result 147 workers were employed without following proper recruitment and selection processes and also without informing stakeholders. The process was so flawed that no interviews were conducted no screening was done and the employment equity committee was misled with regards to the number of positions available.

This happened at a time while hundreds of contract employees, who have been cleaning the hospital for years, as temporary workers, were overlooked.

This is a new low and it points to the deteriorating levels of management and transparency in the hospital.

Our union refuse to allow {CHBH} to become a political play ground were political parties will come and demand employment disregarding employment processes and then are allowed to get away with it.
