The ANCYL in the Northern Cape is greatly saddened by the untimely passing away of the regional secretary of John Taolo Gaetsewe region, Comrade Boikanyo “Kibe” Matlhoko, who passed away on Sunday 29 November 2015. Comrade Boikanyo was a tried and tested leader of the ANCYL who cut his leadership teeth when he became ANCYL branch deputy chairperson of Taolo Gaetsewe Branch and through his dedication and love for the movement he went on to serve as an ANCYL regional executive committee (REC) member of JTG region from 2008 to 2013. Cde Boikanyo further volunteered at the ANCYL regional office as an administrator.

When the REC of JTG was disbanded Comrade Boikanyo was one of the few who were given the task of rebuilding of the ANCYL structures in the region. He was at that time appointed as the regional task team coordinator, a task which he carried out with distinction so much so that in a space of a year the John Taolo Gaetsewe region held a successful regional congress under his leadership. It is for this and other reasons that the membership of the ANCYL in JTG region elected him to the position of regional secretary, a position he held up until his untimely death.

Activism has always been an integral part of comrade Boikanyo’s life during elections, he would always be in the forefront campaigning for the ANC in the region. Before his death comrade Boikanyo was working as a ward committee administrator at Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality. The provincial executive committee of the ANCYL in the Northern Cape would like to convey its heartfelt condolences to the Matlhoko family on the passing away of their son, we urge them draw solace in the knowledge that during his short life, comrade Boikanyo, touched the hearts of many and indeed lived purposeful life. Cde Boikanyo was a very humble person who had appetite to learn at all times.

The memorial service and funeral arrangement of Cde Boikanyo are scheduled as follows:
