National Environmental Management: Waste Act 59 of 2008 (NEMWA): Standard for disposal of waste to landfill

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs has by notice in the Government Gazette in terms of section 7(1)(c) read with section 73 of the NEMWA given notice of her intention to set a national standard for the assessment of waste for landfill disposal in the Schedule thereto.

The purpose of the standard is to determine the requirements for the disposal of waste to landfill as contemplated in regulation 8(1)(b) and 8(1)(c) of the Waste Classification and Management Regulations, 2012

Members of the public are invited to submit to the Minister, written comments on the standard within 30 days of the publication of the notice in the Government Gazette (i.e. 9 September 2012).
