Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni left here Wednesday afternoon for London where he is due to hold talks with his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame on relations between the two countries, the foreign ministry said.

"He has left and the two leaders will hold talks over relations between Uganda and Rwanda," senior foreign ministry official Julius Onen, who was at Entebbe airport to see off Museveni, told AFP by telephone.

The talks take place after every six months and are part of efforts brokered by the British government to mend the two countries' strained relations.

Tensions between Uganda and Rwanda, notably over their involvement in the war in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), have resurfaced in recent months, with the two former allies in the war in DRC trading accusations of alleged support for each other's rebel groups. - Sapa
