"It is clear that a strike is coming, it will happen if Iraq does not comply with international resolutions and does not stop blocking the inspection process," Mubarak told the official Emirati daily Al-Ittihad.
"I am warning the Iraqi president (Saddam Hussein) that a strike will come from any behaviour which stops the inspection team from entering a site, including presidential palaces," said Mubarak, who visited the United Arab emirates on Saturday and Sunday.
"If the palaces are not inspected, they will be destroyed and the consequences will be grave.
"The United States is determined to eliminate (Iraq's) weapons of mass destruction at any cost," he stressed.
Egypt along with other Arab states opposes US military intervention to disarm Iraq.
"The United States understands our position but their understanding has limits," Mubarak admitted. "It is important that Iraq understands the situation and evaluates correctly its forces and those of others to avoid war and destruction."
US Secretary of State Colin Powell warned Monday that time was running out for Iraq to disarm in line with UN demands after chief weapons inspectors reported Baghdad had failed to answer a host of questions about its suspected arms programmes - Sapa-AFP.
