Ladies and Gentlemen
Last year, the community of Lethabong raised concerns with us as government that they were facing a challenge of inadequate housing.
This they did in full knowledge that the government they elected is a government that listens, a government committed, both in word and deed, to addressing the needs of all its people.
They were clear in their minds that this government will respond in a meaningful way to their plight. They were confident that their concerns would not fall on deaf ears.
Throughout, they continued to display overwhelming confidence in the ability of government to act jointly with them towards the objective of changing their lives for the better.
This gathering today, where we are handing over no less than 900 housing units to the community of Lethabong, is in response to the concerns raised by the people of this area.
Today's handing over ceremony is proof, once more, that we are indeed a caring government. It marks yet another milestone in the ongoing journey to build a better life for all.
This occasion also draws significance from the fact that we are also handing over a clinic to the community of Lethabong.
This clinic, which was built in partnership with the government of Austria, will go a long way towards the objective of providing quality health care to the people of Lethabong.
We wish to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the government and the people of Austria for partnering us in reconstruction and development of our country.
The people of Lethabong and indeed the whole of North West Province will forever be indebted to you for your contribution towards building a better province.
We note with appreciation that this is not the first time the Austrian government has participated in projects aimed at uplifting the community of Lethabong.
The Austrian government also contributed towards building of a Community Hall in this area.
Once more, we are grateful to the Austrian government for their generous contribution towards the development of this community.
We are looking forward to a lasting and mutually beneficial relationship with government and the people of Austria.
Today is also a special day for Nkoko Betta Makena who is 112 years old and living with her daughter of 85 years. They will be receiving a house donated by Dumani Projects.
Furthermore, Lebo Mabale from LT Services has donated furniture for Nkoko Betta's House.
Nkoko Betta will also receive a wheel chair courtesy of Ms Flippie Fourie of the North West Centre for People with Disabilities.
We wish to thank these patriots for what they have done to Nkoko Betta and her family.
It is such selfless actions by South Africans from all walks of life that convince us that the people's contract for a better South Africa is indeed taking shape.
It is such patriotic actions that prove beyond doubt that; acting together we can and will do more.
As many of us leave Lethabong, we will do so satisfied that we have delivered yet another telling blow to the legacy of our unhappy past in this area.
We will leave satisfied that, the people of Lethabong, like their brothers and sisters in many other parts of our country, have something to celebrate during the tenth Anniversary of Freedom, now upon us.
As we leave Lethabong, we will do so satisfied that this community will embrace the future with confidence, that the goal of building a better life for all is now firmly within reach.
I wish to urge the community to continue working with their elected representative in order to ensure that the challenges they still face are addressed effectively.
I thank you!
