Mokgatle appointed as new Spoornet CE

Transnet said on Tuesday that Dolly Mokgatle had been appointed the new CEO of Spoornet and would take over from acting CEO Tshidi Nyama on June 1.

Transnet chairman Dr Bongani Khumalo said Mokgatle's business experience and knowledge would be invaluable to Spoornet, given the challenges it was facing in the new millennium.

He said a comprehensive and thorough induction programme for Mokgatle, currently winding down her responsibilities as MD of Transmission at Eskom, was being finalised at Transnet.

Public enterprises minister Jeff Radebe said the appointment represented the opening of a new chapter in Spoornet's history.

"It comes at a time when Spoornet faces a major challenge of delivering on its infrastructure plans and when it is extending its interest into the rest of Africa," he said - Sapa
