Members of the media are invited to the official launch of the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI), by the Minister of Energy, honourable Dipuo Peters on Thursday, 19 July 2012.
 
SANEDI was established through the merger of two entities, namely SANERI (the South African National Energy Research Institute) and NEEA, (National Energy Efficiency Agency).
 
The primary focus of SANEDI is to help address the country’s rising energy demands, through the acceleration of green energy projects in South Africa. It comprises of strategic areas such as Energy Data, Energy Efficiency, Advanced Fossil Fuels, Clean Energy Solutions and Green Transport.
 
The company was operationalised by the State President and the Minister of Energy in March 2011, under the National Energy Act, 2008, (No. 34 of 2008).
