President Thabo Mbeki in interviews in the UK
During President Mbeki’s visit to the UK during which the President met with the UK Prime Minister and attended a meeting of the South Africa-UK Bilateral Forum, the President engaged with the UK media and with leaders from business and government in the UK.
These interactions provided opportunities for the President to explain South Africa’s position on a range of current issues including inward investment; skills development and acquisition; the G8 and the African Agenda; World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations; African developments including: the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM); economic relations with China; developments in Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Darfur; United Nations (UN) reform; the Middle East and Iran and domestic matters including HIV and AIDS; land reform and the presidential succession.
