The South African President, Thabo Mbeki, has appointed two Deputy Ministers to replace Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) Members of Parliament who declined to take the posts offered to them two weeks ago.

The two deputy ministers have been drawn from the United Democratic Movement (UDM) and the ruling African National Congress (ANC).

Professor Ntopile Kganyago of UDM was appointed Deputy Minister for Public Works, while ANC MP Gert Oosthuizen takes up the post as Deputy Minister for Sports and Recreation.

They are replacing Musa Zondi and Vincent Ngema who declined the positions and could not pitch up to be sworn in along other deputy ministers and Cabinet members at the Union Buildings on April 29.

Mbeki made it clear that he would fill the two positions declined by the IFP with other Members of Parliament who are will to work. - BuaNews
