In a statement released by the Presidency, the following appointments were announced:
(i) The Honourable Justices Thomas Dante Cloete and Caroline Helene Lewis, both Judges of the Transvaal Provincial Division of the High Court, as Judges of the Supreme Court of Appeal with effect from 01 January 2003.
(ii) The Honourable Mr Justice Mogoeng Thomas Reetsang Mogeong as Judge President of the Bophuthatswana Division of the High Court as Judge President of the said Division of the High Court with effect from 01 November 2002, in an existing vacancy;
(iii) The following person as Judges of the Cape of Good Hope Provincial Division of the High Court, in existing vacancies:
a. Advocate Petrus Burton Fouries SC with effect from 01 January 2003
b. The Honourable Mr Acting Justice Ntlupheko James Yekiso with effect from 01 January 2003; and
c. The honourable Ms Acting Justice Yasmin Shehnaz Meer with effect from 27 January 2003.
(iv) Advocate Sharmin Ebrahim as a Judge of the Free State Provincial Division of the High Court with effect from 01 November 2002.
(v) The following persons as Judges of the Transvaal Provincial Division of the High Court, in existing vacancies:
a. The Honourable Mr Acting Justice Mahomed Jajbhay with effect from 01 November 2002
b. Mr Phineas Mathale Mojapelo with effect from 27 January 2003;
c. The Honourable Mr Acting Justice Fikile Charles Bam with effect from 27 January 2003
d. The Honourable Mr Acting Justice Antonie Gildenhuys with effect from 27 January 2003.
