The contributions made by women to science, engineering and technology since the beginning of time, are not insignificant.
It is more than a century ago since Ellen Eglui invented a clothes wringer for washing machines. Her contribution to technology innovation radically improved the state of personal hygiene in the developed world. The sad reality is that she sold the patent rights for only $18 because she was black. In her own words she explains: ,
