Following the referendum in South Sudan on January 9th 2011, which made explicit the will of the people of South Sudan to secede and established what will become the newest member of the society of independent States, developments in Sudan point towards a difficult divorce. This divorce between what has become known as North Sudan and South Sudan, as well as the exercise of establishing a new nation, has become an increasingly difficult and challenging venture.
