Former Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) President Willie Madisha has announced that he has resigned from the ANC, the SABC reported on Thursday.
The SABC said Madisha made the announcement when he addressed hawkers and some ANC members at Burgersfort in Limpopo.
"Madisha says he will send his resignation letter to the ANC," the SABC reported.
The national broadcaster said Madisha urged the gathering to register for the national convention where their grievances would be addressed.
He said some Cosatu members were resigning from the body to prepare for a possible formation of an independent labour movement under the new party.
