Lindiwe Mazibuko to lead “Save our Teachers” march to EC Education Department

On Friday, 9 November 2012 DA Parliamentary Leader, Lindiwe Mazibuko MP will lead a "Save our Teachers march" to the Eastern Cape Education Department.

 
She will be joined by DA Leader Eastern Cape, Athol Trollip MP, DA Shadow Minister of Basic Education Annette Lovemore MP, DA Shadow MEC for Education, Edmund Van Vuuren MPL and DA Eastern Cape provincial spokesperson, Veliswa Mvenya MPL.

 
Nearly 4000 teachers will lose their jobs in 2013 if the provincial Education Department goes ahead with the planned cut in teaching posts. The DA will deliver a memorandum of demands aimed at preventing the crisis in our schools that these job losses would cause.

 
There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Directions to Meeting point from East London:
 
  

  • Take the highway from East London to King Williams Town.  
  • Go Past Berlin, when you get to the turnoff where Breidbach is on your right hand side, turn left (away from Breidbach). The signage says turn left to Bhisho & Zwelitsha.   
  • You will drive up a slight incline to a T junction / stop street. Turn left at this T-junction towards Zwelitsha.
  • The road takes a slow right corner then drive straight down the hill to the robots at the bottom of the hill. Cross straight over the road at the robots.
  • Immediately on your left hand side will be a dirt road leading into an open space which is used as a taxi rank. There is ample parking space.
