The City of Johannesburg multi-disciplinary teams are on the ground responding to some of the concerns raised by Fleurhof residents.

The multi-disciplinary team consisting of the Johannesburg Roads Agency, City Power and Johannesburg City parks and Zoo are currently in Fleurhof dealing with potholes and patching of roads, grass cutting, tree pruning as well as improvement of public open spaces, litter picking and cables & meter replacement.

The City’s response is informed by the commitment made by the Joburg Executive Mayor, Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda, to residents of Fleurhof.

This is in line with what was agreed last week, to roll out a targeted service delivery blitz focusing in Fleurhof, but not forgetting other areas by providing ongoing services delivery.

Of the twelve demands listed in the memorandum by the residents of Fleurhof, the City has moved swiftly tackling four of the key issues.

These includes basic services such as roads, electricity, public open spaces cleaning, grass cutting as well as tree pruning. The City will in the coming days focus on other issues relating to sewerage, billing and clearing of illegal dumping.

Although some of the issues require other spheres of government, the City will continue to expedite the resolution of service delivery issues falling within its services delivery mandate while engaging with other government spheres for a lasting solution of all other matters raised by the community.

Working with other law enforcement agencies the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department will increase visibility to curb incidents of criminality in the area.

The City will regularly communicate with the community on progress every step of the way. This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to a people-centred approach which responds to the diverse needs of people.
