South Africans may experience another round of power cuts on Wednesday as Eskom warned the risk of loadshedding remained high for the morning peak.
Eskom was forced to implement rotational loadshedding to deal with power constraints brought on by wildcat strikes by employees which disrupted operations at some power plants.
"Customers are advised to keep checking their load shedding schedules on the Eskom and their municipal website, and plan on the assumption that load shedding will take place," the state-owned power utility said in a statement on Tuesday night.
"We encourage residents and businesses to please use electricity sparingly to ease the demand of electricity. Please switch off geysers during the day especially during peak periods (05:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00) as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand."
Unions and Eskom management have not yet concluded wage talks, with workers demanding performance bonuses be included in any agreement reached.
