Inter-Ministerial Committee on National General Elections visits KwaZulu Natal ahead of the elections

The Inter-Ministerial Committee responsible for the National General Elections, led by the Minister of Police, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will visit election hotspots in the country in a bid to stabilise them ahead of the elections. The Committee will on Thursday, 17 April 2014 visit the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

The visit is aimed at ensuring that there is peace and stability in the country and that public order is restored. Government has the responsibility to ensure that a climate for free and fair elections exists in the country on the 7th of May 2014.

Government wish to reiterate that it will not tolerate any form of violence, intimidation, incitement, public disorder, vandalism or intolerance in the country.

South Africans are reminded that special votes will take place on the 5 and 6 May 2014. The registration for special votes is currently underway and will close on Thursday, 17 April 2014. Government further reminds the elderly, people living with disabilities and all those who are unable to be at their voting districts on election day to urgently contact the IEC on 0800 11 8000 / +27 11 654 1000 to apply.

Venue: Nkanyisweni Hall on Mgobozi Road, F Section, Kwa-Mashu and proceed to Wembezi, KwaZulu-Natal
