The IFP Youth Brigade supports the initiative of the Department of Social
Development to hold a National Youth Camp for five days, starting on Sunday,
in De Brug outside Bloemfontein.
IFPYB National Chairperson, the Hon. Mkhuleko Hlengwa said, "This is a good
initiative by the Department. It needs to be supported by everyone in our
country. It is commendable that the Department decided to start such a
project to educate and create debate among our youth about various issues
that concern them. The youth of our country should take advantage of
projects like the National Youth Camp."
"The youth of our country needs venues like this to interact, debate and
come up with solutions that they can advise Government to use in order to
tackle various issues faced by South Africa's youth. Alcohol abuse, unwanted
pregnancy, unprotected sex, school drop-out and unemployment are some of
those issues," said Hlengwa.
Hlengwa continued, "We hope this year's theme, 'Together in Diversity', will
result in the youth emerging from this camp informed and open-minded about
the diversity of our country and how we should be united as South Africans
from different backgrounds. We also hope that youth from different
backgrounds will recognize that they are all affected by the same issues.
The IFP Youth Brigade waits expectantly to see the positive results of this
National Youth Camp."
The IFPYB encourages all those who are going to take part in this camp to be
brave enough to point out where Government is failing the youth of this
country and to freely express their ideas on how these issues can be
resolved. We wish our youth all the best for a lively discussion.
