IFP Youth Brigade District Chairpersons from all eleven districts of
Kwazulu Natal met in Durban to analyse the recent events that have
occurred in the IFP.
"Those comrades who marched to head office in the name of so-called
transformation do not have the mandate of structures," said Makhosonke
Sithole, Chairperson of Umkhanyakude District and spokesperson for the
districts.
"Comrades cannot take to the streets in the name of the IFP Youth
Brigade when legitimate structures have not been engaged on the
issues. We distance ourselves from those people who marched to the
IFP Head Office since we do not even know to which structures they
belong," continued Makhosonke Sithole.
"As such we will be embarking upon a campaign that will cover all the
districts of KZN to engage with structures and canvass their views on
a broad range of issues affecting the party. It is the party
structures that will give a mandate and not the mobs who protest on
the streets of Durban ? people without a mandate who want us to
abandon the IFP constitution and replace it with mob psychology," said
Makhosonke Sithole.
"The branches elected Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi as President at the
last elective conference in 2004. We respect the will of the
branches. We stand behind Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi as our
President," concluded Makhosonke Sithole.
