The IFP would like to congratulate John Smith, Sizwe Ndlovu, Matthew
Brittain and James Thompson on winning the gold medal for Team SA at the
London Olympics in the lightweight men's rowing four. Their determination
not only inspired the nation, but also put other nations at the games on
notice, that they underestimate the South African team at their own peril.
We wish both our Olympic swimmers, gold medalist Chad le Clos and three-time
Olympic medalist Roland Schoeman the best of luck in the men's 100m
butterfly final and 50m freestyle final events respectively.
As the track and field events are about to begin, the nation will be looking
to all our runners to perform well, but we will be keeping a keen eye on the
4x400 relay team as Oscar Pistorius makes history as the first double
amputee to run in the Olympics against
able-bodied runners.
Looking away from the Olympics, Super Rugby Finalists, the Sharks, will be
contesting for the title against the Chiefs in New Zealand, while the
Proteas continue to battle England in their three Test series, where they
are leading the English 1-0. We wish both teams the best in their respective
games and we hope to celebrate with them as the Sharks are crowned Super
Rugby Champions and the Proteas being crowned the number 1 test team in the
world!
The MTN8 is set to begin this weekend as well and we wish all the competing
PSL the best of luck.
Enjoy the weekend of sport South Africa.
