IFP Spokesperson for Police, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu today stated, "The IFP endorses the call from its President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, to ensure that a professional police person be head of police and do away with cadre deployment for this post and other senior police and intelligence posts as
this has failed every time. It failed with Selebi. And it failed with Bheki Cele."
"We call on President Zuma to act swiftly and follow the Commission's recommendations and remove Mr Cele as Head of Police to assist and ensure that confidence of police personnel and the general public in our police is restored," said Ndlovu.
Mr Ndlovu continued, "We are also waiting with baited breath to see how President Jacob Zuma will react to reports that Mr Richard Mdluli, suspended head of crime intelligence, was now preparing to fight his suspension. We encourage President Zuma to act quickly to allay any fears that Mr Mdluli
will be re-instated."
"The IFP is concerned that the Mdluli saga is dragging on, making a mockery of our intelligence and state services. Mr Mdluli should not be allowed to hold our democracy to ransom for his own personal gain. As a deployed cadre the IFP has always maintained that due to his political allegiance Mr
Mdluli's loyalty is not to the state but to his Party and that therefore he is not fit to hold office," concluded Mr Ndlovu.
