The IFP welcomes the conviction of the two men who were involved in the 2009
murder of the IFP Councillor in the Gingindlovu area of KwaZulu Natal.

"This must be a strong warning to others who are contemplating killing IFP
Councillors", said Mr Velaphi Ndlovu, IFP Spokesperson for Police in
Parliament.

Ndlovu further added that,"The IFP calls for police to act swiftly in cases
related to the killing of IFP Councillors and to ensure that they arrest
these criminals. The IFP feels that it takes far too long for the police to
arrest the perpetrators of political murders, despite being obliged to act
in an unbiased manner."

"In addition, the IFP appeals to the IPID to intervene in stabilizing the
situation at 17 Hostel in Umlazi, where there are many cases of political
intolerance against IFP members. Political killings need to come to an end.
The police have still not arrested all those involved in the killing of
seven members of Isikebhe at the uMsinga area last month nor those who were
involved in the killing five people at Ngudwini Area in Northern KwaZulu
Natal",said Ndlovu.
