IFPWB Chairperson, Mrs Thembeni Madlopha-Mthetwa, today expressed shock at hearing the news of the kidnapping and murder of former Jozini Ward 4 Councillor, Mr Velpahi Samuel Gumede.

Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa said, "I was informed this morning that our friend and colleague, Mr Velaphi Samuel Gumede, was kidnapped and killed whilst on his way to town. The information we received was that Mr Gumede was hijacked and stabbed to death with bushknives. His car and body were found not far
from where he was kidnapped."

"We are numbed by this tragic loss of a man who is committed to working in his community. We call on the police to bring the perpetrators of this callous murder to book and will work with the police and the community to ensure that justice is done," Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa said.

"Our deepest condolences go to Mr Gudede's wife and children, who have lost a father, friend and breadwinner. We wish to assure them and their community of our support in this trying time," Mr Madlopha-Mthethwa concluded.
