The IFP has condemned ANC Transport Minister S'bu Ndebele's acceptance
of a R1.14-million Mercedes from government contractors and called on
the former KwaZulu Natal Premier to return the car.

"Ndebele's action constitutes conflict of interest and sets a bad
example for the entire ANC government that has just been re-elected on a
manifesto that promised to fight graft," said Leader of the Official
Opposition in KwaZulu Natal Dr Bonginkosi Buthelezi.

The IFP insists that Ndebele's greed institutionalises corruption and
proves that government contracts are awarded by politicians on a quid
pro quo basis. "We urge the newly appointed Minister of Transport to do
the right thing and return the car," said Dr Buthelezi.
