The IFP NEC had a special meeting yesterday, Friday 30 April 2010, to
discuss the unbecoming behaviour of two of its members, Mr Wiseman
Mcoyi and Mr Nhlanhla Khawula.

This was as a result of a long serious of offensive behaviour and
inflammatory statements, which the two men made against the IFP and
its leadership over the past weeks and months. Following this, the IFP
NEC had issued them summons to appear before the NEC so that they
could give their side of the story and motivate why the IFP should not
impose temporary suspension against them, pending a formal
disciplinary hearing, to protect the party's image.

Mr Wiseman Mcoyi was unavailable to attend the meeting but instead
sent his lawyer, who also acted on behalf of Mr Khawula.

What led to this special meeting of the NEC was the latest improper
behaviour and statements which were made by the two men on Wednesday
28 April 2010, when they accompanied the IFP National Chairperson Mrs
Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi to Pietermaritzburg, were she was sworn-in as a
member of the KwaZulu Natal legislature.

The NEC, after calling this meeting, warned the two men that if they
failed to attend, the NEC would make a finding against them and impose
the necessary disciplinary sanctions.

After taking into consideration the representations made on their
behalf by their attorney, the NEC accepted the self-imposed moratorium
suggested by Mr Khawula, which will result in him desisting from
acting and speaking in a manner - whether on an IFP platform or
another - which violates the IFP constitution and reaffirms the
accusations leveled against him. Should he violate this moratorium, he
gave the party the right to take any disciplinary steps against him -
including expulsion from party membership. In the meantime, the IFP
will be formulating formal charges which will lead to a full
disciplinary hearing in due course.

With regard to Mr Mcoyi, the NEC with the agreement of his legal
representative, decided to suspend his membership with the IFP with
immediate effect. This is however, a temporary suspension pending a
full disciplinary hearing which will be held as soon as possible.
