The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu Natal has lashed out at the Provincial Department of Education for setting poorly thought, unrealistic and politicized admission policies.
“Both the MEC and his HOD have failed to consider the consequences this policy will have on schools, the children and the parents. The MEC and his department Head need to rethink this policy before trying to accommodate their political platform,” said Honourable Mntomuhle Khawula, Shadow MEC for Education.
The IFP finds the KZN HOD for education's lack of knowledge on the practical operation of his own department disturbing. The IFP also believes that the failure to face reality and to reconsider the policy will have a negative impact on the 2013 Curriculum.
“We as the IFP believe that both the figure school policy and the ‘first come basis’ can operate parallel to each other. It is what has been happening all these years anyway. Setting up new admission policies will not help KZN to improve education instead it will add on to the existing problems. In order to improve education the department must focus on the basics,” said Honourable Khawula.
